In our Rehabilitation of Craftsmen Programme, we provided direct, one-on-one, immense support to craftsmen in the community to survive and thrive, helping them feel better supported, providing quality advice and counseling, and helping them access better care from the resources.

It’s been met with great feedback from the craftswomen of the community, who for the first time are being guided through a difficult time and being supported in their decision taking processes. The programme was conducted in targeted remote areas and villages, and craftsmen were enlightened on various legislations. There is need for wide publicity as women are entitled for free legal aid. The crafts sector is the second-largest source of employment after agriculture. It is estimated that this sector employs over seven million families in India. With a potential for high employment and with great economic importance in terms of foreign exchange earnings, crafts play a significant role in the country’s economy.
